This sweet little man was SO upset when he learned that due to his trip to Disney land with his grandparents he wasn't going to be able to get his school photos taken. Sometimes seeing your face up with your other friends at school seems bigger than a fabulous vacation...

So to try and cheer him up we did some school photos of our own!!!

Z was a total trooper, dressing up in his best clothes to pose for a few shots!!!

In hopes of keeping the whole crew happy and engaged in the shoot, we also took a few James Dean inspired pictures as well!!!

Hello to all my new followers, I first want to say a huge thank you to the team of ladies who put on one of the best fundraisers I have ever had the honor of attending, you guys rocked it!!!

Well I am sure this is self evident, however little miss Chloe stole my heart, what a sweet, stunning gift...

Born June 19th 2011, both mom and baby had the birth they hoped for, welcoming Chloe into the world in her own home, with no issues, only one small issue, Daddy didn't arrive in time for the birth, however was blessed with a beautiful Father's Day gift when he got off the plane.

I had a fabulous afternoon.....

It has been four and a half long years since I was able to see my very good friend Joanna, she and her kids traveled from Australia for a three week visit with her friends and family here in Canada. After traveling, then meeting the love of her life, she left Calgary and followed her heart to Australia and hasn't looked back since.

Now married with two gorgeous daughters, I could hardly wait to have a visit and take a few pictures...

These two kids where just so cute, and with there wee little Aussie accents, they stole my heart! Unfortunately they have gone back home now, but I loved spending a little time getting to know them and capturing kids being kids.

Who ever said being pregnant wasn't sexy is very wrong if you ask me, Celina, a long time client and friend of mine was up for anything and that makes things so fun. She also had alot of great ideas for us to try, and I have to say they turned out fabulous!

Friday March 25th 2011 had started off as a normal busy day for me at the salon, I was super excited to find out that I was going to be done a bit early, my boyfriend of 3 and a half years Mark had planned a romantic dinner for the two of us. I tried guessing the menu, but after my many ideas for a perfect dinner where shot down, I gave up, all I got was a joke

(i hoped) about Kraft Dinner!

Then Carli ( our receptionist), came back and informed me that I had a new client book so I would be there for the whole day, I was totally bummed but kept my mouth shut and continued on my day. Sometimes it happens that new clients find a "faster place" to get in and get there nails done, so when "Laura Flannigan" didn't show up I wasn't overly shocked, and to be honest a bit thrilled. Carli claimed to feel awful that she was a no show and I found out that do to a long distant contact number we couldn't call her. I waited till just after 4pm and let Mark know I was on my way home.....

Sometimes, I get feelings about things, call it psychic, or intuition, but often they are right, so when I left letting Carli Know I thought something was up, she wasn't shocked only telling to let her know....

All after noon I had this gut feeling that Mark was planning something, looking back I guess I equated it to the new and improved Mark that had come home from Fort Mac that monday. He had been overly happy, great mood, very sweet....

As I pulled into the garage I noticed a sign on my garage door and my stomach dropped!!

You can imagine my surprise when I got out of the car and read this sign, to be honest I think I read it 3 or 4 times, still not totally able to stand as my knees started to shake!!

I came in to see a path of roses leading through my house and eventually to the basement... the house was spotless, and the dinning room table was set... beautiful!!! i could hardly breath, totally surprised by the amazing effort Mark had made on our dinner...

the last rose was at the bottom of my basement stairs, when I had left that morning my basement was the storage device for laundry I didn't feel like doing, now it was clean, candle lit, and with My very handsome boyfriend waiting for me, all dressed up, shaved with a new haircut!! SO handsome!!!

I said yes!!!

after about am hour of trying to catch my breath, we sat down to an awesome Italian dinner, that I tried to eat but was so overwhelmed, couldn't! Mark giggled, we talked, and both celebrated while, calling family and some friends to fill them in on the news!! Also finding out that "Laura Flannigan" was in fact Mark, giving himself an extra few minutes to get it all together, and that my sweet friend Carli was in on the plan!!!!! (thank you Carli Love)

After many years of practice, worry, and finally optimal health, my dear friend Mindy and her hubby "Woody" are expecting....

Maternity photos are always a challenge, expectant moms don't always see the true beauty of their miracle and often focus, on the weight gain, the changes to their body... etc.

These photos should truly show how magical this time is... Mindy, you look totally beautiful, and it was an honor to capture this moment in your life, I love you guys, and the little dude, just waiting to fill your life with joy!

Sadly I got a bit behind on the weekly updates so decided to do a final showing of the contest winners for all 11 weeks.

The grand prize winner of this contest is one of Ranchmans very own, Nik....

Not only did this guy have a fab body, he was shy, sweet, and NICE, gals just incase you are wondering he is also SINGLE!

This contest has been a lot of fun and I want to take a sec and thank Ranchman's for asking me to participate and photograph such an awesome fun, and shocking event...

The above and below photos are care of my photography friend Scott, from Stick out your face photography, in a pinch he helped me out when I found out with short notice that I was heading out of town. It is one thing to be a girl taking pictures of a half naked men, but it is much much harder if you happen to be a man trying to encourage other men to look sexy. Thanks Scott you did great!

However we can't all have drop dead sexy bodies, but thanks to these lovely ladies, this guy did great, and made us all blush at the same time!!

These pictures are a bit personal, I had the joy of getting to photograph my boyfriend Mark's moms wedding this past November. It was at lovely wedding in a small church in Dartmouth NS. It was one of many firsts, first time to NS, first time meeting Mark's awesome sister Jill, and well as the first time I got to meet Mark's father and step mom, and even got to meet my new little niece(stay tuned for that post)

Well to be honest our night didn't totally turn out the way we hoped, oddly during the middle of our "show" over half of our male contestants walked off stage...

Thankfully "Puddles" wowed the gals and won. "Puddles" as he is nicknamed isn't our typical contest or winner, but with only three men left on stage, they became the winners. Thankfully we had a very sweet young gal offer her services to help "sexify" things up a bit, I think it worked do you???

This guy was an awesome performer and very yum, the next one was my fav of the night, me laying on the floor taking it looking up at him.

This guy in black and white, I noticed when he first walked in, his eyes were gorgeous!! Although this cowboy rocked the bull, he sadly didn't place, I really liked this picture tho!

There is something so special about fall photos, the smells in the air make my heart sore, and the colors, however brief, are a feast for the eyes! This is the second year I have gotten the chance to photograph this fabulous family I am lucky to call friends!

Thanks to a brief window of pleas able weather we got the family's first picture that included both sets of grandparents. Little "L" as usual kept me busy snapping as she discovered the great outdoors in her own way, so cute!!!

I have known Marla for years, alot of years, and our lives have been similar in alot of ways, and because of this I feel a closeness to her, always have. When she came in glowing with happiness about her engagement to Kevin, I was thrilled. Even more thrilled when she asked if I would drive to his family's farm in Pincher Creek to do some engagement photos. Once I got Marla to relax a bit, the pictures where so much fun. Kevin's family have such a gorgeous property which made the pictures a bit different and SO fun!!

I am super behind on updating this, which is good and bad, Good because I have been super busy, bad cause I don't get to update you!!!

Was so lucky to photograph my very good friend Jodi's daughters grad dinner. We went to the Delta in Calgary and had an awesome dinner, great company, lots of laughs, and if I might say so a bunch of great pictures!!

I can't even believe how quickly Jade has grown up, and a boyfriend... it took me months to get over that one. Time sure flies, thank goodness for photos, and the memories they remind us of!

Nothing like a mad dash to the finish line...

These two lovely ladies wanted something extra special for there mom on Mother's day. However like alot of us do, they left it to the last minute, so when they asked if I would do some photos I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to finish on time. I was honored, however it was a bit of a busy night for all. Not only did we take over 500 images, we then went threw them, picked the ones they loved, edited them, and put them on a flash drive for them to get printed the next day.

We where so thrilled to get it all done, and ready for giving that Mother's day sunday.

A Treat!!!

I had the opportunity to photograph an event that for me personally couldn't be more important. For those that have known me a while, you know that as a new born, a child, and a young adult, I spent the better portion of my 'free time' in the hospital, enduring countless numbers of operations, treatments and procedures as my loved ones sat back, helpless to do anything but watch me in pain. Thankfully I am blessed with an amazing support system that got me through what were some of my very darkest hours....

Thanks to those special people in my life I got through it with only a few 'bumps and bruises' and have grown into a happy adult. However, how special would it have been for me, and all the other sick kids to have a group like these awesome people to help forget even for a minute that I was sick, and give me even a glimpse of what a 'normal' childhood would of been like....

Thanks to the Rainbow society kids and there families get to have those small moments, that may give a child and there family the strength to fight a little harder and to smile during what can often be a scary reality of an unknown future.

The Calgary chapter puts of two main fundraising events a year, and I am proud to say, I got to photograph one of them. The event was called "Wine and Wishes" and was held at a local eatery in SE Calgary. eighty or so guests where treating to an amazing supper with wine pairing for each course, as well as a silent auction, a chance to win a trip where ever Westjet flies, as well as a retail booth of hand painted wine glasses by a local designer Laurie Kenley....

As I am sure you can imagine, putting something like this on was alot of work to say the least, but these girls ROCKED IT!

Thanks to there hard work, they raised $8000.00 well done ladies....

A new arrival!

Been very busy over the last few days so a bit behind on my updates. I have done 5 photo gigs in the last week, one of my busiest weeks forsure!

Felt so blessed to photograph this handsome addition to the world, his name is Hardy James, a name I feel extra warm fuzzies for since one of the Doctors who helped me be the best me I can be was named William HARDY Hendren, so as far as I am concerned it is a strong brilliant name! This little man was crazy long for a new born, 23 inches so alot of my usual pose ideas didn't work to well, However I think these pictures turned out smashingly!

What a great group I had the pleasure to photograph, Annette and Ron had an intimate wedding on Valentine's Day up in the mountains, but really wanted to celebrate there big day with friends so they had a party.

After a rather bumpy start(all the guests including yours truly where given the wrong address) things took off... these people know how to party, dance eat and enjoy each others company!

for those of you wondering, yep that is me with the odd hat on! I couldn't be totally left out of the party could I??? However the wee princess finally tired out, I do think she had a great day.

Was invited to photograph something totally new for me, a sweet little three year olds tea party. Honestly was sure what to expect, but mom, Nicole rocked it. She had the table set with mini tea sets filled with apple juice, cookies, awesome cupcakes, crafts to work on, and they the envy of all kids play rooms for the kids to run off there sugar high! So sweet!!!!

Wow did these two gals ever blow my mind!

After domestic abuse took the life of a member of there community, these ladies decided they could no longer sit back and watch people they know get hurt and did something about it.

They held the first annual "Trash the Dress Gala", the concept is simple and so fun. You buy tickets for a night out with the girls, but instead of wearing the most recent runway fab outfit, you pull out your old bridal gowns, grad dress, bridesmaid dresses... ect

A few of the gals showed up in there everyday wear, but most showed up decked out and ready to party. These ladies where treated to a live band, candy, treats, wine, and one of the funnest bachelor auctions I have ever seen, with a real auctioneer!!

They also had a silent auction, and had the opportunity to purchase the photos I took, with all proceeds going to there cause.

These ladies set a hefty goal of raising 5000.00 on this event, and to everyones glee made over

$12,000.00

Had an awesome night last night taking a few pictures at my wee little friends Bat mitzvah... Her Mom has known me since I was 6, so almost 20 years (lol, ok 30) so it was such a treat to be invited to this awesome event!! As I am sure most would guess, where I go, my camera is sure to follow... so here are a few high light pics!

She was hired to do a birthday party a few minutes away from me, and came by to show me, her alter ego! typical of me, had to get the camera out, Wally had a blast!

A Christmas Miracle....

This handsome gentleman is my one and only dad, what is the miracle you ask?

I got to spend Christmas with this amazing man for the very first time. My parent divorced when I was just young, and my mom, being "my mom" always had my brother and I for Christmas day. My dad getting us for the following day, which in Canada is called "boxing day", as much as this bother my dad, he kept his mouth shut(mostly) however secretly hoping to someday have his kids on Christmas day to celebrate. Sadly we aren't so much kids now, but he finally got his wish, both of his kids with him on Christmas morning....

Something New...

In the afternoon, I felt "blessed" to photograph a greek Orthodox Baptism(my very first), for my friend and client Sophia(LOVE THIS CHICKY!!) Now for those that don't know me, my experiences in the church, are few if any, so I was a bit nervous, would hate for lightening to strike me down, however it went swimmingly..... Infact, despite the fridget temps, the day was beautiful!! with a magical sunset...

here are a few pics of this very neat event, thank you again to Sophia and Randy for trusting me with such an important first in there child's life!

(please don't mind the order of these is all messed up, having some difficulties it seems!)

Had a very busy, yet awesome day... So busy that I am going to split it up into two posts, so that each family gets there own....

My morning started bright and early with the Wright family, Jenn(the mom) has been an off and on client of mine for a while, and someone I truly care for...

However, with the introduction of her newest member Maxx, I haven't seen her...

So I was super excited when she asked me over to take some family pictures. Not only did I get to do what I love(take pictures) but also got to meet her SUPER cute little dude, Maxx as well as her two pup pups, who I have heard about lots but never met...

Had an awesome night last night, my girlfriends daughter came over to work on a school project. She had to create a scrapbook answering 15 different questions about herself...

One of the questions was, "how do other people see you?" and the first thing that came to my mind was "Angelic" but she didn't have a photo that showed that so we took some...

Isn't she sweet!!!

I could just eat her up!!! She is as nice as she is sweet!

So sorry I haven't posted in a while, been too busy taking pictures I guess, can't complain about that though, I love it...

Got the opportunity to take photos for an amazing accomplishment... A 25 year wedding anniversary! I asked the happy couple if they had any secrets for a long marriage and all they did is look at each other and smile, how sweet!

A bit of a shy family to be truthful, but once they got going it was great!

Did these pictures at an awesome restaurant in Calgary Called Ruth Chris, this is the second event I have had the fortune to photograph there, it is a bit dark, but super romantic... hint hint!!!

I had the joy of getting to photograph the sweetest little man ever... I say little man not baby for a reason. This wee dude's skin looked to big on him, so it made him look like a grandpa!!

He did so well, even put on a water show for us. Thankfully that happened on MOM and not me!

I still have a few more "poses" i wanted to get with this little guy, so keep an eye out for the next chapter.

Those Crazy kids.....

Took these pictures a while back, but they were to be a surprise for there mother and so I hadn't handed them over to the family yet so I couldn't post them. Anyway the cat is out of the bag, so thought I would show them off!!!

These kids have been in my life, distantly for a long time. I don't see them enough, to be honest, and I can't believe how they have grown up to be the sweet, crazy little people they are now.

If there is a tip you are wanting to know more about, either photography or photoshop post a comment and I will do what I can to answer it for you(I don't know all the answers that's for sure but I can always find them out!!) Ok todays tip.... Now that you have gotten a bit closer to your 'subject' Its time to consider picture orientation... Landscape? Or Portrait? This may seem like an obvious one but alot of people forget to turn there camera...when you take pics of people it is best to have your camera vertical... why?? well for one it helps you get the whole subject in, as well as having the closest distance between the subject and your camera. Also, it makes your subject lookskinnier!!!! And who wouldn't want that.... another way to keep everyone looking there best is to make sure that the people you are photographing are not standing straight on to the camera, if they stand at an angle, the will look taller, and slimmer... and as I am about to take a pic of any woman I always say "tits out tummy in" Not only does it make you look slimmer but generally will make people laugh or at least smile, a much more 'real' smile then if I just "say cheese" Now taking Horizon or landscape pics... keep your camera horizontal. be mindful of a straight horizon line(don't want drunk photos) as well for interest, try not to center your horizon... choose what you want the pic of, and focus on that... landscape important(nice fall day, lovely colors) then why have half of a dull sky... OR if you have a beautiful sun set/rise why get the dark dead grass or trees in the photo!!

Ok the rule breaker(there is always one) if you want to take a person with a background of say... disney land castle, how do you hold your camera?? Either way will work, however the thing to be mindful of is to keep your human close to you, then have as much distance between them and the 'castle' as you can... so you get lots of detail of the person, and there reaction to where ever they are. As well as the whole story behind them. not just the door of the castle but the whole castle.....

In the first photo we know there is a little person on a bike... however, we really can't see who it is, or weither or not they are having a good time....

now if I turn my camera I get closer up, and can see the details of this totally adorable little lady... and her excitement with her new bike!!

Ok, on this pic you really can't tell what i am taking the pic of... sort of boring, no clear idea of what is important or the beauty and length of the horizon line....

In this pic it is clear that what I am trying to capture....beautiful endless horizon, as the sunsets, leavingLA...

Got the opportunity to take a few pictures of what I was told was a 15 year old, blind deaf dog named Jake...

For a Grandpa doggie, he sure acted like a puppy, looked like a puppy, and made your heart smile like only a puppy can.

Animals truly make my heart sore~
